Airport team 'Celebrate' for the third time
30 May 2013
In June, for the third year running, Aberdeen International Airport will be taking part in the 'Celebrate Aberdeen' parade.
The team are involved thanks to a donation towards the event from the airport Community Panel, who have been involved since the first parade in 2011.
The huge parade which runs the length of Union Street sees businesses large and small paired up with a host of different charities. The aim is to unite Aberdeen’s third sector in a bright and energetic celebratory parade, highlighting the diversity of the third sector, whilst providing an opportunity to thank charities and community groups for their invaluable and often little appreciated contribution to society.
The airport team are parading alongside Mixed Fish, who use the arts, drama and music to support and engage people with learning disabilities.
Sarah Campbell, chair of the Community Panel, said: "Having supported this event since it began, we were delighted to get involved for a third year. The parade shows Aberdeen in a fantastic light, demonstrating how important charities and community groups are to our society. The aims chime with what our Community Panel is trying to achieve, and we are all looking forward to the 2013 parade, whatever the weather!"
