Loganair and Flybe launch new Aberdeen to Cardiff route
Loganair announced today that it is launching a new route between Aberdeen and Cardiff as part of a wider expansion plan that will benefit Scots travellers.
In a joint announcement with franchise partner Flybe, Scotland’s airline will introduce the first ever non-stop flights between Aberdeen and Cardiff on April 19. The new route will cater for both business and leisure travellers and will also offer a convenient connection for those working in the off-shore industry.
The new service will be Flybe and Loganair’s ninth route from Aberdeen, reinforcing their commitment to convenient and affordable air travel in the UK regions.
David Harrison, Chief Executive of Loganair, said: “We are delighted to announce the new service between Aberdeen and Cardiff. Our research has identified strong demand for these flights.
“We’re confident that our competitive fares, starting at £44.99 one-way including all taxes, will prove highly attractive to both business and leisure travellers who have, up to now, been forced to make difficult journeys at high prices to travel between the two cities.”
He added: “At Loganair we are constantly seeking to improve our service and, with Flybe, today’s announcement is another step towards ensuring our passengers get the quality service they have come to expect from Scotland’s airline at a competitive price.”
There will be a return flight between Aberdeen and Cardiff every day, except Saturday, offering people in north east Scotland and connecting destinations, such as Sumburgh, access to south Wales.
Kevin Brown, managing director of Aberdeen Airport, said: “This is an important new link for Aberdeen and the north-east, and offers improved access for business and leisure travelers.
“Cardiff has boomed in recent years and is becoming an increasingly popular city break destination. Equally, this new link will boost inbound business and leisure tourism, offering low cost travel from Wales to the north-east.
“This is great news from Scotland’s airline. At a time when airlines around the world are reducing capacity, it’s good to see Loganair buck the trend by continuing to grow the business."
Flights will leave Aberdeen at 13:00 and arrive in Cardiff at 14:45 and will depart from Cardiff at 15:15, arriving in Aberdeen at 17:00. Prices on the new route will start from £44.99 one-way including all taxes, fees and charges.
Tickets are available from Tuesday 3rd February, online at www.flybe.com.
