Passenger numbers April 2013
13 May 2013
Aberdeen International Airport has recorded growth for the month of April, thanks to a strong performance in the fixed-wing sector.
The official figures show that passenger numbers increased on the previous year by 3.7%. The helicopter sector recorded a reduction of 6.4%, which was off-set by growth in both domestic and international fixed-wing passengers.
Nick Barton is the airport MD. He said: “It is reassuring to see Aberdeen return to growth for the month of April, and that can be attributed to a strong performance in the domestic and international markets. In recent months we have seen the introduction of the new Virgin Atlantic service to the Aberdeen market, appealing to both the business and leisure sectors. At the same time we have moved into our summer operating schedule, and are seeing an increasing number of holiday charter flights taking off from the North-east.”
