Noise action plan
BAA Aberdeen noise action plan
We are currently preparing a noise action plan, which seeks to manage, and where possible, minimise aircraft related noise at Aberdeen Airport over the five year period 2008-2013.
EU and Scottish Government regulations require airports with over 50,000 movements a year, including Aberdeen Airport, to produce a noise action plan. Road operators, rail providers and large urban areas of over 150,000 people must also provide noise action plans. Details of the EU Environmental Noise Directive and Environmental Noise (Scotland) Regulations 2006 can be found at www.scotland.gov.uk.
We are aware that noise from aircraft operations remains a real concern for our local communities, particularly with the airport’s plans to grow and expand in the coming years. We hope the publication of this noise action plan will enable us to better engage with local communities and other key stakeholders to improve our understanding of residents’ concerns and priorities, and ensure that we take effective action in response.
As part of the preparation of the plan a public consultation was carried out to obtain the views and opinions of local residents and other interested parties. This consultation has now closed, however BAA Aberdeen is always open to discussing any queries or concerns relating to airport noise. So if you have any questions or issues regarding either the production of the noise action plans or noise in general, please contact us on 0870 040 0006.
