Aberdeen Airport appoints a new Managing Director

BAA has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director for Aberdeen Airport.

Derek Provan is set to take up the post in September.

Derek Provan

He joined the company as a fire-fighter in 1998, and has worked in a number of high-profile operational roles, notably at Glasgow Airport, where he was Airfield Operations Manager, Head of Security and Terminal Operations and, latterly, Customer Services Director. He is currently working at Stansted Airport, as interim Operations Director.

Commenting on the announcement he said "I am delighted to be appointed into this role, taking my place within a strong team and an equally strong business.

"I look forward to building on the good work that has already been undertaken providing great service to our passengers and our airline partners. It is those high standards that make Aberdeen Airport such a vital part of the local community and part of my role will be to make sure that keeps going from strength to strength.

"I would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes so far."
