ID Centres Futures
An introduction to ID Centres Futures
ID Centres Futures is a BAA security project. Its goals are:
• to improve security effectiveness now and for the future
• to increase customer service to our Business Partners
Why has ID Centres Futures been started?
Over the past 18 months we have been talking to some of our business partners and asking for feedback on the services we currently provide. We know that at each of our seven ID Centres; (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton), our processes vary – and that this has made it difficult for business partners who operate at more than one location.
What’s the aim of the project?
One of the aims of the project is to ensure that a single set of processes apply at all ID Centres, to make it easier for everyone to apply for both ID and Vehicle passes.
By doing this – and supporting the process with new technology – BAA could
• increase our security effectiveness, making our airports safer for passengers, business partners and BAA employees alike
• work with business partners to provide a simpler service, delivering right first time
• offer an on-line application service.
We are also looking to work more closely with Employment Screening companies to provide a more seamless service.
What do these changes mean for business partners?
Betwteen September and November BAA will be transfering several ID processes to a central department. We’ve spoken in detail to a number of our business partners who have supported the move to a common and consistent procedure. However, they made it quite clear that they wanted to retain their local ID Centre – with access to local pass collection and account management.
Over the past few weeks we have been providing authorised signatories with regular e-mail updates and information on this site.
We're inviting authorised signatories and ID pass scheme managers to drop-in sessions at each of our airports where we'll explain all the changes and when they will happen. If you cannot make one of these sessions – you can download all the information you’ll need in the 'Changes to BAA’s ID Pass Management Service' booklet.
What do you need to do at this time?
Please, read this booklet carefully and share it with colleagues who are authorised signatories
If you have not yet received an email update – please email us at id_project@baa.com to ensure we put you on the mailing list.
At this time you do not need to do anything differently. Continue to follow your established pass process and the security procedures that we have already agreed with you. We will email you – or alert you to your switch over date via this site, so please visit it regularly over the next few weeks.
How can I find out further information?
• Apply for e-mail updates if you have not already received them
• Check this website regularly
• Look out for the drop-in dates at your airport
