ID Colour Coding Changes

The colours of BAA ID Passes were last changed on 31 July 2005. BAA’s ID passes are designed to comply with the Department for Transport’s regulations.

BAA ID passes are in a landscape format.  There are four colours for the restricted zone plus the blue and yellow hatched design used for aircrew. Yellow passes are issued for landside use only. Grey is for controlled areas and orange for cargo areas. Each pass also carries a highly visible number or numbers. These show the areas of the restricted zone that the holder may be given access to. Red passes are gradually being phased out and reserved solely for the airport crisis management teams. Blue passes with zones 1 – 6 + B may allow the same “all areas” general  access rights at times of normal operation.

Please note that the term "Baggage Make-Up Areas" describes the areas previously known as "Baggage Sort Areas". The new description is used by the DfT.
