Our total revenues last year were £2,012 million* and of these £726 million* were from retail; airport and traffic revenues were £820 million*; property and operational facilities accounted for £242 million* and other revenues (including rail) were £224 million.
*Figures shown are nine months to December 2006 as BAA aligns its financial reporting to its parent company's reporting structure.
BAA's other interests
We also own other businesses including: BAA Lynton which develops and manages commercial property interests around our airports; the Heathrow Express rail service linking Heathrow to central London and World Duty Free (WDF), the world's largest and most successful travel retailer. Following a strategic review both BAA Lynton and WDF are expected to be sold during 2008.
Staff
BAA directly employs around 15,000 staff and over 10,000 of these are based at our UK airports. Just under 2,000 work for World Duty Free.
Terminal 5
The public inquiry into T5 was the longest in British planning history, lasting nearly four years. Our planning application was submitted in February 1993 and construction actually began in summer 2002. The terminal will open on 27 March 2008. Find out more about Terminal 5.
