Runway resurfacing project

Edinburgh Airport has started a major project to resurface and rehabilitate its main runway. This will review the life of the runway for at least 10 years and ensure the safe operation of the airport in the future. The schedule of work means the project should be complete by the end of November 2008. However, the project has required the airport to change its operation at certain times of the day, when work is taking place. This has resulted in aircraft operating from the airport's secondary runway between the hours of 23:00 and 05.45. As a result, residents in parts of South and West Edinburgh as well as Midlothian and West Lothian will see and hear aircraft close to their homes.

The Edinburgh Airport website will contain the most up to date information. Additional newsletters will also be issued to affected communities to keep people up to date.
