We have a strong commitment to the communities around our airport and aim to address issues of prime local concern.
We aim to create opportunities for local residents to enjoy their local airport – even those who don't use it regularly. Aberdeen International Airport continues to build and strengthen its relationships with local communities.
Official charity partner
Aberdeen International Airport is committed to supporting its chosen charity partner:
Befriend a child support disadvantaged and troubled school-aged children and young people growing up in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Befriend a Child believe that every child deserves a happy childhood and a chance to succeed in life. Their motto and mission is to “turn a frown upside down”.
The charity support children aged from 4½ -16. Typically, they come from troubled family backgrounds where they experience challenges and difficulties such as coping with parental drug and/or alcohol abuse; social isolation; bereavement and abject poverty. They may also experience physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse, neglect and trauma. Many of these children are at the greatest risk of exclusion, isolation, bullying and attracting stigma at school.

How to become our official partner
As an official charity partner, we vow to support fundraising efforts where we can. We will encourage our staff to partake in scheduled events, organise our own fundraisers and provide fundraising opportunities at Aberdeen International Airport when possible.
If you would like to become our official charity partner in the future simply send a proposal to Community@AIAirport.com. Shortlisted charities will be put forward to our staff who will then vote for our next exclusive charity partner.
