Busiest April ever
The April figures are just in. 310,378 people used the airport last month, an increase of 9.1% on the previous year. There was growth in both the fixed-wing operation and helicopter passengers. Meanwhile a strong April rounds off a record first quarter for 2014, with more people using the airport over the first 4 months of the year than in any other year on record.
Carol Benzie, airport MD, was delighted to see further records being broken. She said: “We were confident that the April figures would be strong because of the impact of the Easter get-away, but we were delighted to see them breaking records. I am proud of the team and the way they manage these operational peaks whilst maintain a focus on customer service. There is a strong sense of everyone working together and that is what makes our airport a success.”
Work is moving on at pace in the terminal and we are continuing conversations started at the Routes Europe event in the hope of securing new travel options for our customers. This is important to make sure we never stand still are always striving to exceed expectations.”
