Our Green & Amber List Destinations

As you may already know, the UK Government has now implemented a traffic light system to safely restart travel from Scotland to the rest of the world. This means that international travel is finally getting underway and we can all start living out our holiday dreams that have been deeply brewing over the past 18 months.

The list of green, amber and red countries, as defined by the UK government's traffic light system, will be reviewed every three weeks and we will keep this page updated with the latest information. Below we have compiled a list of the green and amber list destinations we are currently flying to from Aberdeen Airport.

You can also subscribe to our newsletter and have these updates as well as the latest airport news and promotions delivered straight to your inbox.

Green

Before you travel back to Scotland you'll need to:

- complete a passenger locator form

- have proof of a negative predeparture Covid test (taken within three days of departure)

- book and pay in advance for a Covid test (to be taken on your second day of arrival)

You don’t need to quarantine upon landing, but you’ll need to take a Covid test on your second day of arriving home. For more information, visit the government website

Amber

Amber

You no longer need to quarantine on arrival back in Scotland from an Amber List country as long as you:

- have been fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme

- haven't visited a red list country in the past 10 days before arriving back in Scotland

"Fully vaccinated" passengers are those who have had their final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before arrival in Scotland.

You'll also need to:

- declare you've been fully vaccinated on your passenger locator form which you will need to complete before arrival in Scotland

- show proof of your vaccination to your airline when you travel

If you're not fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme, you'll have to quarantine on arrival and take both the day 2 and day 8 tests.

Red

Red

If you've been to a red country in the last 10 days, you can only enter the UK if you're a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK. You’ll also need to:

- complete a passenger locator form before travel back to Scotland

- have proof of a negative predeparture Covid test (taken within three days of departure)

- book a managed hotel package, including two Covid tests

Once you’ve landed in Scotland, you'll need to quarantine for 10 days in a managed hotel and take a Covid test on day two and eight of your return. For more information, visit the government website

Regardless of green, amber or red categorisation, each country/region listed has its own entry requirements which customers will need to comply with. It’s important you check local requirements before travel. It is your responsibility to check you are not only booking the correct COVID test but also ensure you leave enough time to get the results before you fly.

Answers to your questions

1

What is the traffic light system?

The UK government’s traffic light system is made up of green, amber and red destinations. The colour category a country falls into defines the testing, self-isolation or quarantine requirements for when you re-enter the UK after travelling. Just so you know, this traffic light system is for re-entry into the UK only – there are likely to also be separate entry requirements set by the country you’re travelling to. We recommend you read up on the GOV.SCOT website for more details

2

What does it mean if a country is on the UK traffic light system's green list?

If you’re travelling to a green list country from England, Scotland or Wales, you do not need to quarantine. You may need to take a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR test before you return. It is your responsibility to check you are not only booking the correct COVID test but also ensure you leave enough time to get the results before you fly. Find out more here

3

What does it mean if a country is on the UK traffic light system's amber list?

If you’re travelling from an amber list country to England, Scotland or Wales you will not need to quarantine on arrival as long as you have had your final dose of an approved UK vaccine at least 14 days before arrival in England, Scotland or Wales and haven't visited a red list country in the past 10 days.

You may need to take a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR test before you return. It is your responsibility to check you are not only booking the correct COVID test but also ensure you leave enough time to get the results before you fly. Find out more here.

5

How do I find out what the requirements are for re-entry into the UK?

This is defined by the UK government’s traffic light system. There are different requirements depending on whether a country falls in to the green, amber or red category. You can find out more on our entry requirements page and on the FCDO website.

6

My destination requires me to prove I have been double vaccinated – how can I do this?

If you live in Scotland and have been fully vaccinated, you will be able to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination by requesting a printed copy of your vaccination status online or by phoning the COVID-19 Status Helpline or by requesting a printed version online. This can be done here.
