airBaltic Resumes Flights from Aberdeen to Riga

airBaltic Resumes Flights from Aberdeen to Riga

Aberdeen. On May 1, 2021, Latvian airline airBaltic resumed scheduled flights from Aberdeen to Riga, Latvia. airBaltic has planned to operate flights between both cities up to two times a week with the Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “Riga is a dynamic city and the key business center of the Baltic states. We are excited to resume scheduled flights from Aberdeen to Riga as it reopens connections not only to Latvia but also to our wider home region with Tallinn and Vilnius as well as many destinations in Scandinavia, CIS and the Middle East.”

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport said: “It is great to see the restart of our Air Baltic route to Riga.

"The airline will operate the route using one of its A220-300 aircraft which is not only one of the quietest commercial aircraft, it generates 20% less carbon emissions compared to similar aircraft.”

A complete schedule of airBaltic flights and tickets for the resumed flights are available on the company's homepage at www.airbaltic.com.

The safety and health of our passengers is airBaltic’s top priority. airBaltic has introduced strong health measures and the flight operations follow the recommendations issued by authorities. To read more about the airBaltic health measures, please visit airBaltic website: https://www.airbaltic.com/en/health-measures.

The Airbus A220-300 has performed beyond the company’s expectations, delivering better overall performance, fuel efficiency and convenience for both passengers and the staff. This aircraft offers an excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories and much more.

In addition, the new aircraft is also considerably quieter – with a four times smaller noise footprint. Moreover, at the moment it is the greenest commercial aircraft in the world, as it is the first aircraft to have a transparent declaration of the life-cycle environmental impact, helping to reduce CO2 and NOX emissions by 20% and 50% respectively.
