Review of Express Drop Off facilities at Aberdeen International Airport

Review of Express Drop Off facilities at Aberdeen International Airport

A number of changes are being made to the Express Drop Off facilities as part of a review.

Currently, Aberdeen International Aberdeen is dealing with the loss of 2 million passengers, key routes and more than 400 direct/indirect jobs.

The Express Drop Off fee will be set at £4 for 10 minutes an increase of £1 from February 1, 2022

The long stay car park will continue offer 30 minutes of free parking. An on-demand shuttle bus is also available in the long stay car park. We would encourage anyone who thinks they may be longer than 10 minutes to please use our short-stay car park or free option.

There will be no changes to the arrangement for blue badge holders. Those with a valid badge are still entitled to a free 30-minute period in the clearly marked blue badge spaces within the short stay car park, which are the closest spaces to the terminal.

To support efforts to operate in a more sustainable manner, passengers with private fully electric vehicles will be able to access the Express Drop Off facility directly opposite the terminal free of charge for the first 10 minutes. Electric vehicle users must pre-register for free access for the first 10 minutes through the airport website.

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “It will take years for the airport to return to pre-covid levels, with current impact on our airport resulting in the loss of over two million passengers, key routes and over 400 jobs.

“Our airport is a large piece of infrastructure which demands continual investment, and we continue to do this at Aberdeen International Airport investing in our long-term sustainability strategy and by introducing this Electric Vehicle registered scheme to provide 10-minute free access to our Express Drop Off is the first of many measures we look to introduce.

“It’s imperative we start what will be a long and challenging process of attracting airlines back to Aberdeen to restore the regional connectivity that the north-east relies on so heavily.”
