ABZ Propeller Fund donates more than £25,000 to worthy projects this year

ABZ Propeller Fund donates more than £25,000 to worthy projects this year

The ABZ Propeller Fund by Aberdeen International Airport has helped 19 organisations share in £25,000 funding this year.

Relaunched in 2022, the fund is open to groups, charities and organisations with links to education, sustainability and economic regeneration.

Projects funded this year include a new polytunnel for The Seed Box Ltd, Wendy house for St Devenick’s Playgroup, music equipment for Turriff Silver Band and utensils for the Garioch Community Kitchen.

Bruce Watson, chairman of the ABZ Propeller Fund at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “This is the second full year of the ABZ Propeller Fund and I’m please to report nearly 40 organisations have shared £50,000 during this time.

“Our fund is highly competitive but still a fantastic way for organisations to get financial support to get their projects off the ground.

“I want to thank the fund’s committee members for all their continued hard work and I look forward to seeing how many of the projects we have supported progress in the future.”

Members of the ABZ Propeller Fund committee include airport staff, as well as representatives from the local authorities and Scottish Parliament.

Jackie Dunbar, Aberdeen Donside MSP and member of the ABZ Propeller Fund said: “ABZ Propeller Fund grants can make a big impact to communities so I would encourage organisations and groups to apply for the next round of funding.

“There is always so many good worthy causes who apply so we really do try and make the funds go as far as possible which can be a real challenge – but it is a privilege to be a part of that process.”

The search is now open for applicants for 2024 with the committee meeting four times a year.

Any organisation looking to submit an application is asked to carefully read the ABZ Propeller Fund guidelines.
