The ABZ Propeller Fund is calling for its final applicants for 2024 with grants still available for worthy projects.
This year, the amount of funding was increased to £30,000 to coincide with the North East’s largest transport hub celebrating its 90th year.
Established with the aim of propelling support regionally, ABZ Propeller Fund has been instrumental in providing vital support to numerous worthy causes over the years.
At its latest meeting seven projects were given grants including Absafe, Printfield Community Project, Aberdeen Foyer and Gairn Community Garden.
By increasing the funding to £30,000, Aberdeen International Airport reaffirms its commitment to empowering local initiatives and driving positive change within the community.
Grants are available for projects with links to education, sustainability and economic regeneration.
Bruce Watson, Chairman of the ABZ Propeller Fund, said: “We have had three very successful meetings already this year with 18 projects receiving grants from our committee.
“With our final meeting taking place at the end of November this is the final call for organisations to receive potential funding.
“The fund has grown in popularity and this year alone we have received more than 70 applications from a diverse range of community groups and local charities.
“I would like to thank our committee members who give up their time voluntarily to ensure the fund can continue to make a lasting and positive change for the communities we serve.”
Cllr Alan Turner, chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, added: “By providing financial support to community groups and charities both in the City and Shire which are committed to improving opportunities and services available to local residents, the ABZ Propeller Fund is demonstrating its ongoing commitment to local education, economic regeneration and sustainability.
“I would encourage all local groups with potential project to look at the fund guidelines and, if they meet the criteria, to submit an application as soon as possible.”
Members of the ABZ Propeller Fund committee include airport staff, as well as representatives from the local authorities, third sector and Scottish Parliament.
