This year's highly anticipated midnight Runway Run at Aberdeen International Airport is set to be the largest yet, promising an unparalleled experience for 400 enthusiastic runners while supporting charitable causes.
The event, now in its fifth year, is scheduled to take place on June 22 at the CHC Helicopter terminal.
Once again, CHC Helicopters and Aberdeen International Airport are joining forces to organise this extraordinary event. In 2023, the runway was lit up as nearly 400 participants dashed through the night, and this year, the event aims to accommodate even more participants.
Tickets for the event will go on sale this Thursday, April 11, at 6pm with organisers encouraging eager runners to secure their spots early.
Participants will have the opportunity to run 4km course, with proceeds benefiting Aberdeen International Airport's chosen charity AberNecessities, as well as CHC Helicopters' selected charity, yet to be announced.
CHC Helicopter Captain Ryan Broadhurst, who coordinates the event alongside the airport's operations team, expressed his excitement, saying, "It is always great to return to Aberdeen International Airport for the Runway Run.
“Last year we extended the number of spots and running distance to a great response so we hope people will join us again and make our event truly special.”
Robert Paterson, Head of Operations at Aberdeen International Airport, highlighted the success of last year's sold-out event, which raised over £40,000 for charity.
"We encourage runners of all abilities to participate in this exclusive event," he said.
"We're thrilled to open up our runway once again and partner with CHC Helicopter to support worthy causes."
Sponsors for the event this year include ABM Aviation Services, Alpha Fencing, ATPI, NATs, Hampton by Hilton and Munro’s Travel.
Northsound One have also signed up as the Official Media partner of the Runway Run 2024.
Times will be recorded using chip technology for each individual runner. Tickets are priced at £25, with a sponsorship target of £100 per participant.
Runners of all abilities are welcome to participate, and tickets can be purchased from the official Runway Run website starting at 1800 on Thursday, April 11, at www.aberdeenrunwayrun.co.uk.
