Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, has marked a major milestone at Aberdeen International Airport after flying its two millionth customer through the north-east hub.
To celebrate the occasion, the airline surprised the lucky milestone traveller, Roy Davidson, 50, from Burray, Orkney, with complimentary flight vouchers as he checked in for his journey home after working offshore.
Roy, who regularly travels alone for his two-week work rotations, has been using Loganair’s Aberdeen services every fortnight for around eight years. The route provides a vital link between his offshore commitments and home life in Orkney.
Speaking after receiving his vouchers, Roy said: “I’ve relied on this service for years – it’s simply the best way to get to and from offshore work. The reliability has really improved, and with ADS keeping fares manageable, it makes a real difference. I’ll be using the vouchers to treat my wife somewhere special.”
The two-million-passenger milestone reflects Loganair’s long-standing commitment to maintaining dependable connectivity for Scotland’s islands and rural communities. Aberdeen remains one of the airline’s most strategically important bases, supporting lifeline, commuter, and offshore energy-sector travel.
It is also Loganair’s largest operating hub across its network, employing 195 people and supporting 10 routes. Loganair is also the largest operator at Aberdeen International Airport.
Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “Reaching two million customers at Aberdeen Airport is a tremendous moment for Loganair and reflects the strength of our partnership with the region. For many, including Roy, our services are an essential part of daily life, connecting families, supporting industry and underpinning the energy sector.
“Milestones like this are about people, and we’re proud to play a role in journeys that really matter.”
Robert Paterson, Head of Operations at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “It’s a real pleasure to celebrate this incredible milestone with Loganair. Two million passengers is a fantastic achievement and reflects the strong connection between our airport and the communities Loganair serves. Seeing Roy Davidson and the Kirkwall crew makes it even more special. Loganair is such an important part of Scotland’s transport network, and we’re proud to support their continued success.”
Customers flying with Loganair from Aberdeen benefit from a 21kg luggage allowance as standard, seamless onward connections across the UK and beyond, and the opportunity to collect Avios through the airline’s partnership with the global travel rewards programme.
