Aberdeen International Airport, in partnership with Sport Aberdeen and AberNecessities, will put ‘well-kent’ faces from the North East through a special fundraising challenge – Jet Set Spin.
Jet Set Spin is believed to be a European first – a unique event where participants will take part in a spin class to raise vital funds to support local children on Friday, 26th September.
Set directly on the airfield of Aberdeen International Airport, Jet Set Spin offers a dramatic and unforgettable setting: participants will spin beside a live, operational runway, with aircraft and helicopters continuing to take off and land around them.
From security briefing to cooldown, the event will run from 12:30 to 16:00, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience that blends adrenaline, purpose, and community spirit.
To secure their “boarding pass” to Jet Set Spin, participants are aiming to raise £1,000 each in support of AberNecessities and Sport Aberdeen’s SPACE programme.

Robert Paterson, Head of Operations at Aberdeen International Airport, who will also be taking part in the event, said: “Jet Set Spin is a bold and exciting way to bring our community together in support of two vital causes. Hosting a spin class on the airfield, right next to an active runway, is no small feat – but it reflects the spirit of innovation and collaboration we’re proud of at Aberdeen International Airport. I’m thrilled to be joining the Jet Set Squad and look forward to pedalling for purpose alongside some incredible individuals.”
Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities, added: “This unique event, once again, highlights Aberdeen International Airport's outstanding dedication to supporting local children and families. As the cost of living crisis continues to disproportionately affect children and families living in poverty, the demand for our service continues to grow at a staggering rate, with 377 children receiving items last month alone. It is my hope, that as I undertake this challenge alongside the fantastic 'Jet Set Squad', we can raise much needed funding for items no child should go without.”
Keith Heslop, CEO of Sport Aberdeen, said: “I’m delighted to be part of Europe’s first ever runway spin class – it’s not every day you get to swap the office for a bike on the tarmac! To be pedalling alongside so many familiar faces from across the Aberdeen community makes it even more special. Most importantly, the event will raise vital funds for our SPACE programme, helping more young people experience the life-changing benefits of being active.”
