Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport accepting the award for Business of the Year at the Northern Star Business Awards
Aberdeen International Airport has been named Business of the Year 2026 at the Northern Star Business Awards, following a standout year of strong financial performance and continued investment in infrastructure and technology.
The award was presented at a ceremony attended by more than 800 business leaders at P&J Live and organised by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC), in association with Brodies LLP.
The Business of the Year category recognises organisations that demonstrate exceptional performance, ambition and positive impact on the North-east economy. Aberdeen International Airport was selected after a 12‑month period that saw major enhancements to the passenger experience and strong financial performance.
The airport welcomes around 2.3 million passengers each year, supports approximately 3,400 jobs and contributes more than £110 million annually to the regional economy.
Recent investment includes the rollout of next‑generation security scanners, £3.7 million in infrastructure upgrades, and the launch of new international routes, strengthening the region’s global connectivity.
Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “To be named Business of the Year is a tremendous achievement for everyone who works at Aberdeen International Airport. It reflects the commitment and professionalism of our teams across the airport who have delivered operational improvements, invested in new technology and continued to put passengers at the heart of what we do.
“We’re proud of the role the airport plays in supporting the North-east economy and connecting the region with key domestic and international markets, and this award recognises the impact of that work over the past year.”
