airBaltic Returns to Aberdeen International Airport With First Service to Riga

airBaltic Returns to Aberdeen International Airport With First Service to Riga

Aberdeen International Airport has welcomed the return of airBaltic’s direct service to Riga, with the first flight of the summer season departing on 2 June.

The twice-weekly service, operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays until September, reconnects the North East of Scotland with the Latvian capital, offering passengers greater choice and improved access to Eastern Europe.

Flights are operated by airBaltic’s modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, providing passengers with a comfortable onboard experience. The aircraft can accommodate up to 149 passengers and is among the most efficient in its class, supporting both airlines’ ambitions for more sustainable aviation.

Passengers travelling on the route can also enjoy complimentary high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet, with airBaltic continuing its rollout of the service across its fleet.

Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: "It’s fantastic to see airBaltic’s Riga service return to Aberdeen, and we are delighted to have marked the first departure of the season.

“This route provides valuable connectivity for both business and leisure travellers and strengthens our links with Eastern Europe. We look forward to seeing strong demand across the summer months."

Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic: “We are pleased to return to Aberdeen and expand our network in the United Kingdom, improving access to Latvia as well as the wider Baltic region, Finland, and Scandinavia.

“This new route strengthens connectivity for both business and leisure travellers while fostering closer economic, cultural, and tourism ties between the two countries.”

The Riga route not only offers access to one of Eastern Europe’s most vibrant cities, known for its rich cultural heritage and striking architecture, but also provides onward connections to airBaltic’s wider network across Europe and beyond.
