Bilfinger announced as Headline Sponsor for Seventh Annual Midnight Runway Run

Bilfinger announced as Headline Sponsor for Seventh Annual Midnight Runway Run

Aberdeen International Airport and CHC Helicopter have announced Bilfinger as the first-ever headline sponsor of the Midnight Runway Run, as the much-loved event returns for its seventh year on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

Now firmly established as a standout event in the North East’s calendar, the Runway Run will once again welcome 400 participants to take on a unique 4km route along the illuminated runway at midnight, an experience not available anywhere else in the region.

The announcement of Bilfinger as headline partner marks a significant milestone for the event, reflecting its continued growth and increasing profile. As part of the partnership, the 2026 event will be presented as the Aberdeen Runway Run presented by Bilfinger.

Last year’s event raised £65,000 for local charities, contributing to more than £250,000 raised since the event began. Organisers are aiming to build on that success this year with increased participation and support.

This year’s run will once again raise funds for Aberdeen International Airport’s charity partner, SAMH, and CHC Helicopter’s chosen charity, Lifestars.

Participants will also have the opportunity to support a charity of their own choice through the GiveWheel platform, with 30% of funds raised directed to a selected cause.

Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “The Runway Run has become one of the most exciting dates in our calendar, and we’re delighted to welcome Bilfinger as our first-ever headline sponsor. Their support allows us to take the event to the next level, enhancing the experience for participants while continuing to grow its impact for charities across the region.

“Each year the support from the local community grows, and it’s incredible to see so many people come together for such a unique and memorable experience. We’re proud to host this fantastic event alongside CHC Helicopter and look forward to welcoming both new and returning runners for another special night on the runway.”

Laura Hardie, Engagement and Wellbeing Manager at Bilfinger, said: “We’re proud to be the headline sponsor of the Aberdeen Runway Run 2026. As a business with strong roots in the North East, supporting community initiatives like this is incredibly important to us.

“The Runway Run is a unique and inspiring event that brings people together while raising significant funds for vital causes, and we’re excited to play a key role in making this year’s event the biggest yet.”

The 2026 event is made possible thanks to the support of headline sponsor Bilfinger, alongside partners including ACE, Stagecoach, NATS, Ross Promo, AV1, GJ Services, ICTS, Ferrier Pumps and Dewhurst Airfield Services.
