Easter Getaways set to take off at Aberdeen International Airport

Easter Getaways set to take off at Aberdeen International Airport

Aberdeen International Airport is preparing for a busy Easter travel period, with more than 52,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal between 30 March and 19 April.

The North East’s largest transport hub is gearing up for one of its busiest spring travel windows in recent years as families head off for school holiday breaks and long Easter weekends.

London Heathrow remains the top destination for travellers from Aberdeen, with more than passengers forecast to fly on the route across the Easter period. Amsterdam and London Gatwick follow as key connecting airports.

In addition to strong domestic demand, international travel is also set to be busy throughout the Easter period. Amsterdam remains the leading overseas destination for Aberdeen passengers.

Services to Stavanger and Gdańsk are also proving popular, alongside Bergen and Alicante as holidaymakers seek both city‑break and sun‑escape options.

The airport’s busiest day is expected to be 7 April, with around 3,000 departing passengers scheduled to travel.

Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “The Easter break is always a popular time for travel, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more than 52,000 passengers through our doors over the next few weeks.

“With a strong mix of domestic and international destinations, we’re expecting a vibrant and busy atmosphere across the terminal.

“Our teams will be on hand throughout the Easter period to support passengers and help ensure a smooth start to their journey.”

Passengers are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey through the airport, especially during peak morning periods. Travellers should continue to follow the current security regulations, ensuring that liquids carried in hand luggage remain within the 100ml limit.
