Nearly 270,000 expected through Aberdeen International Airport this summer

Nearly 270,000 expected through Aberdeen International Airport this summer

Aberdeen International Airport is preparing for a busy summer season, with around 269,000 passengers expected to depart through the airport between June and the end of August.

The forecast comes as the airport continues to provide strong domestic and international connectivity for travellers across the north-east of Scotland, with passengers able to access a wide range of leisure, business and visiting friends and relatives destinations.

Passengers can enjoy direct flights to a range of popular overseas destinations this summer, including Alicante, Amsterdam, Bergen, Corfu, Dalaman, Dublin, Faro, Gdansk, Krakow, Malaga, Paris, Palma de Mallorca, Reus and Stavanger.

The summer schedule has also been enhanced by the launch of a new airBaltic service to Riga, providing passengers with a direct connection to the Latvian capital and further strengthening Aberdeen's international route network.

The positive outlook follows a successful year for the airport, which was recently named Business of the Year at the Northern Star Business Awards.

Aberdeen International Airport has continued to invest in infrastructure and technology while enhancing its route network, further strengthening the region's connectivity with key domestic and international markets.

Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said:

"We're looking forward to welcoming around 269,000 departing passengers through Aberdeen International Airport this summer as people across the north-east travel for holidays, business and to visit friends and family.

"The addition of Riga to our route network further enhances the connectivity available to passengers across the region, while our established leisure and business destinations continue to prove extremely popular.

"Aberdeen plays a vital role in connecting the north-east with key markets across the UK and Europe, supporting tourism, trade, investment and the wider regional economy.

"Following a year in which the airport was recognised as Business of the Year, we remain focused on delivering a great customer experience and look forward to helping passengers enjoy a smooth start to their journey throughout the busy summer period."

Passengers are encouraged to check travel requirements with their airline before travelling and allow sufficient time before departure.

Under the airport's security process, passengers can leave liquids of up to 100ml, large electrical items and other belongings inside their hand luggage when passing through security screening.
