RelyOn Acquires Fire Training Group to Strengthen its Presence in the UK

RelyOn Acquires Fire Training Group to Strengthen its Presence in the UK

Effective Friday, 15th May, 2026, RelyOn has acquired Fire Training Group’s (FTG) activities in Aberdeen.

The agreement consolidates RelyOn’s presence in the North-East of Scotland, ensuring the continuation and expansion of high-quality fire training in the Aberdeen area.

The acquisition further strengthens RelyOn’s existing Fire Academy capabilities and expands our global network of state-of-the-art training centres. By integrating these capabilities, RelyOn is well-positioned to continue delivering advanced fire safety training and consultancy.

Strategically located adjacent to Aberdeen International Airport, FTG benefits from a unique training environment next to a live airfield. The site is easily accessible via major transport links, including the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) and Dyce Railway Station.

Through this agreement, RelyOn will take over all the training at the 3-acre fire ground on Forties Road, which features pressure-fed fire simulators, helideck, a multi-rig training module, helicopter simulators, and confined space training unit.

Colin Leyden, Regional Managing Director at RelyOn, comments: “FTG has been a long-term partner of RelyOn, working with us to deliver specialist emergency response and fire training to the international energy and maritime sectors. To our customers, it will be business as usual, however, this investment will give us the ability to drive targeted growth with an ever more streamlined and competitive offering. The fire ground in Aberdeen is now the second in the RelyOn UK portfolio, with a further facility offering specialist helideck and fire emergency response courses in Glasgow.”

Robert Paterson, Operations Director, Aberdeen International Airport, adds: “We are extremely proud of the team within the Fire Training Group (FTG), both past and present, who have provided specialised, and vitally important training to the energy and maritime sectors for over quarter of a century. Through a long-term relationship with RelyOn, Aberdeen International Airport recognises that this agreement will provide a stronger platform for the delivery of this specialist training and support.”
